MotoGP – Estoril QP1 – Pedrosa achieves the goal of the front row
Second place today for Dani Pedrosa who stopped the clock just over two tenths behind the poleman, his compatriot Jorge Lorenzo. The Catalan doesn't take it too badly for missing pole: his objective, he says, was to conquer the front row, which is very important both in view of the advantages that this allows if well exploited when the traffic lights go out, and as sign of improvement in the qualifying rounds, which at the moment are not among the strengths of the HRC team. Tomorrow morning Dani will use the time available to fix something else on the bike and to make the decisive choice of tyres, which he preferred to postpone due to the unstable climate in Portugal.
“Our goal is always to grab the front row, and today we achieved it”, says Daniel Pedrosa. “We are satisfied with the result of today's qualifying, because it is very important to start from the front row because testing is not our strong point at the moment. Today our race pace was good, however we still need to improve the bike a little by working on the chassis setting. In any case, we haven't decided yet which tires we will use tomorrow, because since the weather conditions here are very variable and we will continue to hope for a little longer. The important thing will be to see what the weather will be like tomorrow. It will be very important to make a good start and then we will see what we can do. Tomorrow I hope to be very focused because there are many riders who are going fast and it will certainly be a tough race.".
