MotoGP – Estoril – Engine failure for Randy De Puniet

Disappointing day for Randy de Puniet, forced to retire due to a failure on the twentieth lap. Starting from eighteenth position, the Frenchman did his best to recover as many positions as possible, but on lap fourteen a rare mechanical problem ruined his race. The whole weekend was tough for the Kawasaki team, right from the tests, and now they hope for a turning point for the next Grand Prix.

“My race was going well but then, – explained the pilot – on the fourteenth lap, I started to have some problems with the power in the low and medium revs. I continued for a few more laps because I was going faster than others in my group and I was sure it would be possible to finish ahead of them. I'm very disappointed because after some difficult moments in practice, things seemed to be going well.”
