MotoGP – Estoril Day 1 – Great performance for Carlos Checa

Carlos Checa was the author of an amazing performance today in Estoril, in the Portuguese GP. The Team Tech 3 Dunlop Yamaha rider achieved the 4th best time of the day. “This mini-break after the 3 non-European races served to recharge the batteries said Carlos Checa – I was very impatient to get on track and I am very happy to have achieved the 4th best time. I lapped about 2 tenths of a second off Stoner's best time.

After the Japanese race we changed our working method, until then we worked with 4 different tires but now we only use one type so as to be able to work better. The track this morning was dirty but in the afternoon it improved and allowed us to lap fast. We also tried a new tire that Dunlop brought out and it seems to work really well. Now we hope that the track continues to improve in order to be able to go fast in the crucial phases of qualifying.”
