Anthony West had a complicated debut today at Donington Park. The Kawasaki rider who will replace Olivier Jacque from this race until the end of the season had in fact started very well, even overtaking Rossi, but then crashed due to an excess of confidence. West, however, did not lose heart and got back on the bike and finished eleventh, giving himself some points on his debut. He had the biggest difficulties towards the end when the track was drying out. He has the microphone.

“I felt really strong in the wet and didn't feel like I was pushing too much. Nicky Hayden had crashed in front of me at the same spot a few laps earlier and there was no grip there. I had struggled all weekend. But I lost my rear end so quickly that I couldn't really understand what had happened. Afterwards, when the track started to dry, I struggled with traction and couldn't get the power down. Later, I started to feel better but at that point it was too late to attack Melandri. I'm disappointed with the accident because I wanted to give these guys a good result, but I'm happy to have reached the finish line and scored some points.”
