Colin Edwards had an excellent weekend at Donington Park where, after pole, he climbed to the second step of the podium in today's race. The Fiat Yamaha Team rider made an excellent start, dueling with Casey Stoner towards mid-race. When the track began to dry out, the Texan had a couple of warnings (the front end of his M1 closed twice) and then he preferred not to risk compromising the good things he had done up to that point. The word is up to him.

“A good race! I started very well, better than the tests done during the weekend and then I put my head down and started pushing lap after lap. I had a good feeling with the bike in the wet, but then the track started to dry. So I started braking more to feel safer but then in the chicane the front stuck and I was scared. At the next corner in the hairpin he got stuck again, I went wide and Casey overtook me. At that point I gave it my all but I couldn't keep up with him, I didn't have the grip he had. It was tough, but I imagine it was tough for everyone! You could see that the line was drying out and wet tires don't work on a dry track! I tried to be careful without giving too much gas. However we did our best, it's nice to be back on the podium. A big thank you to all my team. We made a lot of progress this weekend and now we're excited for Assen! Congratulations to Casey Stoner, he had a great race today."
