MotoGP – Donington Park – Another top race for Hopkins
The first thing he did after arriving in the pits was to congratulate his teammate Chris Vermeulen who had achieved the third step of the podium; he would have liked to have been there but John Hopkins is still satisfied with his race today at Donington Park where he finished in fifth position. The Texan Suzuki rider now hopes to find a better climate in Assen because he is convinced of the competitiveness of the Suzuki-Bridgestone pairing.
“First of all congratulations to Chris – Hopkins said – it's nice to see a Suzuki on the podium again. I wish it was me but he's pretty good in the wet! I had a decent start to the race and started a couple of battles with the other riders. When the rain stopped falling it created a dry line which was difficult for me because even though many riders took it, it wasn't my usual line! For the most part I am happy with the result, we finished in the top 5 again and I scored some good points. Now we need some dry races because I think that with the Suzuki-Bridgestone package we can be competitive on every track. I hope it will be dry in Assen next weekend as it is a circuit that I really like and I want to get a good result there so we can move up the rankings.”
