MotoGP Coronavirus Covid-19 – The last stage of the 2020 post-Covid-19 MotoGP scheduled for November 22nd will be at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimao, a circuit that will now make its debut on the Top Class calendar.

Immersed in the splendid setting of the Algarve, a Portuguese city located on the coast in the district of Faro, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve was inaugurated on 2 November 2008 and has a capacity of 100.000 seats and was the venue for the last WorldSBK round for that same season. The track is also known as Portimao, taking its name from the port city which is half an hour away. Algarve Motorsports Park is a state-of-the-art complex boasting a stunning racing track, go-kart track, dirt track, hotel, apartment complex, technology park and sports complex.

The circuit layout consists of 15 corners (nine right and six left). The trajectories are incredible and the straight will allow the MotoGP riders to catch their breath before tackling the descent of Turn 1.

Statements Carmelo Ezpeleta GP Portimao 2020

“It's great news for us, we signed an agreement in 2017 with Portimao to be the reserve circuit for any type of cancellation and we have been in contact with them all this time. We have been to Portimão with the Superbike and we think it is an incredible possibility for us, and also in the agreement there is that the track will be resurfaced after the Superbike round. When we explained this to the drivers they were excited because they saw the track on TV, but we had never been there. Portugal has a long history in our sport and there have been some historic battles at Estoril. It's something very positive for us to have the chance to return to Portugal, especially with Miguel Oliveira, because it's fantastic to have a Portuguese driver able to race in his country. We are extremely happy to race in Portimão at the end of the year.”
