MotoGP – The troubled 2020 MotoGP world championship is heading towards the closing credits, but the Covid-19 emergency could bring forward the conclusion.

Only three races remain until the end of the championship, two in Valencia and one, the last, on the Portimao track, in Portugal, scheduled for November 22nd. This last race could be the one at risk of cancellation. From 4/11, in fact, the lockdown will return to Portuguese territory, in partial form, but which could be extended in the event of an increase in infections. Lisbon Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced: “The time has come when it is necessary to take more restrictive measures to have control over this pandemic. It is a civic duty of home confinement." The lockdown, which affects 70% of the population, currently involves the targeted closure of individual municipalities, but further restrictions will be decided every two weeks. Throughout the national territory, the use of a mask will also be mandatory outdoors.

For the moment, Dorna has not issued any press releases in this regard. The event will certainly take place behind closed doors, unlike what happened for Formula 1 a few weeks ago, when 7.500 people were present in the stands. The situation is continuously monitored, but seeing the progress of the pandemic in Europe, the hypothesis of a cancellation is always present. The championship could therefore be decided in the two stages in Valencia scheduled for 8 and 15 November.
