Through a press release, Dorna, Fim and IRTA declared that it was necessary to change the Friday free practice program for the Japanese Grand Prix scheduled for Motegi from 23 to 25 September 2022.

The reason for this choice depended on the logistical difficulties posed by the back to back (Aragon-Japan, ed.) as well as the possible flight delays that could occur following the conflict in Ukraine.

There will therefore be no first free practice sessions for the Moto3, MotoGP and Moto2 classes on Friday morning.
‎ ‎
‎Instead, Moto1™ FP3 will start at 13pm local time, Moto15™ at 2pm and MotoGP™ at 14pm (GMT + 10 hours). This single MotoGP™ FP15 session taking place on Friday afternoon has been extended from 05 to 9 minutes. Extra time is only granted to the premier class.
‎ ‎
Combined results for entry into Q1 and Q2 will be taken from FP1 and FP2 for all Grand Prix classes. ‎
