MotoGP – Casey Stoner "invites" Australian motorcyclists to go to the track
Casey Stoner, current Ducati rider and next Honda rider, as well as winner of the last Australian Grand Prix (to which the photo refers), spoke in support of a national campaign to encourage those who want to ride high-speed motorcycles to do so only on the track. The 2007 world champion encouraged his compatriots to "let off steam" on the track. Here are his words.
“It's difficult for people to understand, but when we (riders) are on motorbikes or cars on the roads we don't want to take risks – said the Ducati rider as reported by “Racers-republic” – As far as I'm concerned I simply enjoy the landscape, usually with my wife. As a driver I have to say that when I started racing on the track it was fantastic. When you race on the track you really understand the limits of the bike. You know it's safe and you know everything will be ok. It's definitely the best idea to go on a track day at Grand Prix circuits like Phillip Island or Eastern Creek. There are loads of tracks around Australia that do track days and it's generally good to go to a few. As I said, you are medically assured and ready to go. This is definitely the best way to do it.”
