Excellent day for the Italian team, which secured a start from the front row with the 3rd time of a Loris Capirossi who was in splendid form also with the Bridgestone racing tyres. Carlos Checa was also very fast, 6th just 0,6 seconds from pole position. Ducati Marlboro Team riders Loris Capirossi and Carlos Checa concluded qualifying tests for the Czech GP with the third and sixth best times, thus securing the first and second row of the starting grid for the eleventh round of the World Championship .

Although the positions achieved today exactly reflect those that the Ducati Marlboro Team occupied in Estoril (where, however, Carlos was third and Loris sixth), the technical director of the Ducati Marlboro Team Corrado Cecchinelli believes that today was a decidedly better day than the one spent in Portugal: “These have been the best qualifiers of this year so far because we are also very confident for the race – says Cecchinelli – Our bike performs very well on this track and we are happy because the race tires seem even better than the qualifying ones in fact, with the first ones, Loris has an excellent pace and Carlos recorded a 1'59.0. I believe that a pace around 59.5 could lead to the podium and the performances of the two riders give us hope. With the latest generation of tyres, Bridgestone has taken a decisive step forward, both in terms of durability and in terms of reaching and maintaining the operating temperature. The potential of the Bridgestones has always been clear to us: now it seems that it can be exploited throughout the race, like at Mugello."
