GP Czech Republic MotoGP Ducati – Jorge Lorenzo ended the first day of free practice on the Brno circuit in fifteenth position. A not entirely brilliant result, especially if you consider that in the first round, on a wet track, he managed to put in the third best performance.

However, the result on a dry track is also the result of the work carried out in the afternoon. The Majorcan, in fact, took to the track in the second half of the session with the new car, but with used tyres. Which didn't allow him to attack time like his colleagues did.

The main attention was paid to the new hull. “There was the same anticipation as when I took to the track in Valencia with the Ducati for the first time”. Said Jorge Lorenzo, who then added: “Hats off to the team who worked so hard on the bike to try to make my life easier. Up to now she has been tough, especially in feeling the front when cornering. With today's test, which we did quickly due to the track conditions, it was positive, because we improved in certain sectors. Logically it also has negative points like with the wings. We certainly lose a bit on the straight but the confidence at the front has improved, and this will certainly make me go faster. But we still have to do some tests and experiments with the setting. There is still a lot of work to do."

However, the first free practice session in the wet slowed down the work: “The problem is that we have little time. We saw that Honda was very fast and the fact that we had a wet first session didn't help. Tomorrow we hope it will be dry, and what I heard today I think that the potential of the new hull is greater than that of the standard one. The difference in the change of direction was not very noticeable.

The first free practice session took place in the wet, a condition in which the Majorcan has not shone lately, but today he set the third best time, a symptom of an excellent feeling with the bike: “I pushed hard in the wet, but I preferred not to take risks to improve the time. It was relatively easy to go fast.

At the halfway point of the championship, anything can still happen, but with his teammate in the top positions of the world championship, thinking about future team games isn't entirely unrealistic: “It's too early to think about any team games. but as I said in Germany, I'm a Ducati man so if I don't win it I hope that Dovi wins the championship, and if I have to do it I'll try to do my best to help and make sure that this happens."
