MotoGP Brno: Amazing race and fifth victory of the year for Marc Marquez

Incredible race for the world championship leader, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo on the podium, Rossi is fourth

MotoGP Brno: Amazing race and fifth victory of the year for Marc MarquezMotoGP Brno: Amazing race and fifth victory of the year for Marc Marquez

Fifth victory of 2013, fourth in a row, numbers which alone make clear the greatness of the season contested here by Marc Marquez, who, let's not forget, is a rookie. In fact, the Honda rider also won in Brno, after having achieved success at the Sachsenring, Laguna Seca, Indianapolis and precisely here, where he also broke another record, that of the youngest winner of four consecutive races, which belonged to Mike Hailwood .

Jorge Lorenzo tried in every way to resist him, making a great start and trying to resist until the end, the only Yamaha to try. At the end he also had to surrender to Dani Pedrosa, who perhaps attacked Lorenzo too late to try to win. Valentino Rossi, on the other hand, finished fourth and ahead of Bautista, but the Pesaro native finished over ten seconds further away, never fighting for the victory.

With this further victory Marquez extends his lead in the standings; he now has 213 points against Pedrosa's 187 and Lorenzo's 169. A substantial advantage, which could lead him to win on his debut in the Top Class.

Race report

Eleventh stage of the 2013 season for the riders of the MotoGP class. The race takes place at the Masaryk circuit (name of the first Czechoslovakian president Tomáš Masaryk) in Brno, theater of the bwin Grand Prix Ceske republiky. Yesterday in the fifteen minutes of the "time" attack the one who prevailed was Cal Crutchlow, Yamaha Tech 3 rider and next Ducati rider, at his second pole in the Top Class. Starting in the front row with him will be the "surprise" Alvaro Bautista (Honda Team Gresini) and Marc Marquez, world championship leader and Repsol Honda Team rider.

Second row for the second Honda of the internal HRC team, the #26 of Dani Pedrosa. The Spaniard will have the reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo and an increasingly positive Bradley Smith next to him, riding the second Yamaha SAT of Team Tech 3.

The third row is made up of our Valentino Rossi, riding the second M1 of the Factory Team, the Honda of Stefan Bradl's Team LCR and the first Ducati, that of Andrea Dovizioso. Eleventh and fourteenth times for the Ducatis of Andrea Iannone and Michele Pirro, while the Italian riders with the CRTs are Danilo Petrucci seventeenth (Ioda Suter BMW of the Came Iodaracing Team) and Claudio Corti, eighteenth with the FTR Kawasaki of the NGM Mobile Team. Everything is ready for the race, 22 laps to go (for 118.866 km), the traffic lights go out, the fastest at the start is Jorge Lorenzo, author of a great start from the second row. Marquez, Pedrosa, Crutchlow, Bautista, Rossi and Smith follow him.

The first lap ends with Lorenzo having a one second lead over Marquez, then Pedrosa, Crutchlow, Bautista, Rossi, Smith, Bradl, Dovizioso, Hayden, Iannone, Espargarò, Edwards and Pirro. Lorenzo definitely extends his lead, bringing the lead to 1.018, while behind him there is a battle between the official Hondas of Marquez and Pedrosa. Valentino Rossi struggles more, already paying for more than two seconds. Hector Barberà falls, hitting our Claudio Corti, same fate for Lukas Pesek, who however falls alone.

Now it's Marquez who sets the fastest lap; the world championship leader recovers more than three tenths from Lorenzo, while Bradley Smith (second Yamaha of Team Tech 3) also finishes the race, having crashed without physical consequences. Great battle between Cal Crutchow and Alvaro Bautista, with the poleman now fourth.

As for the choice of tyres, the prototype riders chose the medium compound on the rear, while for the front they opted for the hard, with the exception of Nicky Hayden, who mounted the soft. Lorenzo, Marquez and Pedrosa made a gap. The three Spaniards have over three seconds ahead of Cal Crutchlow, while Rossi has almost caught Bautista, who we remember started with the second fastest time.

Lorenzo's breakaway is over, the top three are now within a few tenths. The Majorcan with the team had hypothesized an escape, which instead failed. Fall for Crutchlow! The Briton was pulling hard, with his usual generosity, but he dared too much. Let us remember that today the conditions are at their limit. It's cloudy and the temperatures are lower than yesterday (there are 16° degrees in the air and 21° on the asphalt). Meanwhile, Rossi recovers three tenths from Bautista, the two fighting for fourth place.

It should be underlined however the race played so far by the reigning champion ends up. First the breakaway, then the excellent pace maintained so far. The Hondas are very strong as usual, but Lorenzo tries to resist, maintaining first place for now. Rossi's attack, Bautista is overtaken, the Pesaro native is now fourth. Followed by Stefan Bradl, the Ducatis of the internal team of Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden and that of the Pramac team of Andrea Iannone. The first CRT is the ART of Aleix Espargarò followed by Colin Edwards and the GP13 of Michele Pirro, who here replaces the injured Ben Spies.

We have now reached the halfway point of the race, the Hondas are still threatening Lorenzo, but for now he is not giving up first position. The Majorcan gains a lot in T1, while the #99 loses in other points of the track. Cal Crutchlow, who got back on the bike after the fall, is now twentieth. It's a shame about the fall of the next Ducati rider, which occurred in the early stages of the race and which compromised the #35's entire race.

A few drops of rain begin to fall, the bikes are prepared in the garage with rain tyres, but for the moment the riders continue (rightly) to remain on the track. We remind you that in case of heavy rain the riders have the right to return and get on the bike already ready for a wet race.

Now Marquez seems to be the one in the best position. The world championship leader tries to attack before the S, but Lorenzo resists. The time is now ripe, the #93 is not satisfied, he wants to win the fourth consecutive race. The attack arrives, now Marquez is in the lead, with 6 laps to go. Lorenzo, however, doesn't give up, he awaits us with a race finale that is absolutely not to be missed.

Now it's Pedrosa who wants to break the deadlock, Honda's #26 doesn't want to let his team-mate and world championship leader Marquez escape, but between the two there's Lorenzo. Behind, however, Rossi is now behind Bautista and ahead of Bradl.

Lorenzo's attack, the Yamaha rider passes, but he can't do anything after the climb and Marquez is back in front. The Yamaha is not up to the level of the Honda and to stay there the Majorcan is riding in an extraordinary manner. Marquez extends and Pedrosa breaks the delay and passes Lorenzo. Now the two HRCs are in front, with Pedrosa having to mend the "tear" made by his teammate.

The final lap begins, Marquez resists and goes on to win his fourth consecutive race, the fifth of the year. An incredible season for the Honda rookie, who climbs to the top step of the podium, with him Pedrosa and Lorenzo. Rossi finishes fourth, followed by Bautista, Bradl, Dovizioso, Hayden, Iannone and the first CRT, that of Aleix Espargarò. Danilo Petrucci from Terni had an excellent race, finishing thirteenth and third in the CRTs.

…gigetto, but where are the canaries? Nice example of sportsmanship...who knows how they are suffering, worse than Meda ahahahahahahah...he went so far as to say that Rossi isn't that far from Jorghe...it's a shame that if he isn't injured he's always in front of him...indeed, even when he it's ahahahahahaha!

Marquez will probably win the title in his debut year and this is "monstrous" considering the caliber of the opponents on the track...as well as being a record of records...I'm a convinced Stoneri fan but in my opinion even the Australian would struggle to put the wheels in front of the 93..which is in a divine state of grace and has the best Honda of the last 10 years..it looks like the 800 from 2011..Lorenzo did a great race..with a slightly more competitive he could defend the title better... Dani is riding well but, even if the bad luck (injury) never seems to abandon him, he should start to be worse... you can't strategize on Marc by trying to study him because his lines are "crazy "..you have to challenge him on the race pace at fast paces, put the wheels in front of him, pull at breakneck speed and close all the doors..in short you have to be more "bad"...Rossi, as I said at the beginning of the championship, can win 2 -3 races only in exceptional cases (see Assen) he is decidedly slower than the three Spaniards..he must race to defend the XNUMXth place from Cal..speaking of the Englishman..it's a shame..also because his objective for this year (very important) is to finish the championship ahead of Rossi, it seems that he still can't ride to the limit and it is better that he learns given that next year he will go to battle with the Borgo Panigale team.
Ducati Chapter: Ok for the results, in the sense that we knew that this year we couldn't achieve satisfaction but the continuous lack of progress remains worrying...it's as if we were still groping in the dark...this bike is an enigma...Stoner maybe there it would go faster but the fact remains that the bike has very great limitations...

      (coincidentally there is bibo)

anyway Stonami you say well Marc is a phenomenon, yes maybe it's early to say it but what he's doing is already history
      goes beyond current pseudo-champions
those who have continued in recent years without ever throwing their hearts beyond the obstacle
without giving us the fun (which if you like this sport you appreciate from all drivers) of the crazy things he does
Yes, I also think that Stoner would struggle a lot too
perhaps he would always start in front of him (since in practice he was always very fast straight away) but he would always finish behind him
this guy drives like a madman, like Stoner I would say but with much more courage in the duels, in this race he could have been very happy with a 2nd place
but true champions are never satisfied
everything, absolutely everything that is needed to entertain us, a bit like Rossi when he was young, now he's just lost, but I'm sorry because 2 who spark sparks together should be seen more often, (regardless of the riders) but Rossi has finished the stone of his lighter ahahahahahahahhahahaa

Well there is little to say apart from that the first three are, as already said several times, of another level above all, too bad for Craccilo and I go back to saying that he deserves the official instead of the recommended crybaby who upon the return of the "broken" as obvious to win and get to the front row forgets it.
Once the help is over, the victories are over, and I borrow the wisdom of a reader who said "Winners find a way, losers find an excuse" is truer than that!!!

Marc was fantastic, but no one here criticizes him for waiting for the right moment to overtake Jorge…. He had more (by his own admission), but no one here criticizes him for this... Which was done for Rossi.

As usual, two weights and two measures.

Pedrosa seems like a shadow of himself, perhaps the injury had a greater impact on a mental level than on a physical level.

Jorge is very good, he does his best

the race took place in a fairly clear way as expected 3 hares and the rest flounder while Ducati sinks

those who judge Rossi leave them alone they just have to vent years and years of bitter pills now that it's at the end they shoot at the red cross
unseemly after so much fun they gave us (not to them already because they are unsportsmanlike and don't know how to appreciate when their champion is beaten, just look at how the comments begin in a post that talks about Marc + whatever else)

Jorge is very good, he does everything he can to limit the damage... But the Hondas clearly have more (where are the experts who claimed technical parity?..). Urgent updates needed!

Rossi, from the premises I expected him to be closer to the leaders, to fight for third position.
He too must find the right path... In some situations he manages to lap like the leaders, in others he is very far away... He must find more consistency.

It's a shame for Cal... But the fall shows how much desire he has to compete!

    Ducati… Same thing.

  • Ronnie said:

Well, I don't really understand the criticisms of Rossi, he had a good race, certainly not one of the best, he made some mistakes if you look at the times, but by now the trend was understood, he's not at the level of Lorenzo, who right now he's probably the best rider for at least a year now, he was already better than Stoner last year and this year he's certainly the best rider, except he doesn't have a Honda.

If you look at Rossi's times he did his job, in the end he took 8 seconds from Lorenzo, Rossi lacks Jorge's consistency and lap momentum, Rossi is certainly not the best, but I think that now if Yamaha it won't bring improvements soon, not even Jorge will be able to go beyond third place, so Rossi can certainly be criticized, but we should also be objective and admit that it's not easy even for a number one like Jorge to make a difference if the vehicle isn't at the Top of the Tops.

    1. Bryan said:

In my opinion Rossi did what he could, but he is at the level of Crutchlow and Bautista, who are satellite riders... with his bike he should demonstrate more... I understand that Crutchlow has a bike that is very similar if not identical to him, but Bautista is clearly inferior…

      1. bcs said:

You can see from the time that Bautista managed to set in qualifying (behind Marc) that his is a clearly inferior bike to the Yamaha :).

      2. Ronnie said:

Bryan goes to the GP, there are GPs in which every time a satellite goes strong, the difficult thing for the Bautistas, the Bradls and the Smiths is to get those results every GP. The situation is different for Cruthclow who is more constant.

But focusing the weekend on qualifying and then suffering in the race is not the way to win GPs and achieve great placings in the general classification.

Rossi pays off in speed on the flying lap, and he works a lot from a racing perspective and this pays off a little more on Sunday, the problem is that he lacks 2 to 4 tenths on average even in race pace. compared to the first three.

Here Rossi was strong if you look at the times, the best weren't bad at all, the problem is that he doesn't have Lorenzo's stratospheric regularity so for better or worse he always loses a lot over the course of a race.

what a shame, on 46 in Brno he always finishes 4th at 10"
and meda and related Taliban fans DO NOT rejoice.

will they have realized that with Pedrosa and Lorenzo not yet at 100x100, 46 is out of the fight and out of the world championship? mysteries

will they have realized that the competitive level is between Cal and Alvaro with CUSTOMER motorbikes?

we don't understand the reason, these newsagent people are strange people who so influence the poor Taliban at the mercy of the meda, cereghini, terruzzi, Beltrano etc.etc.

BIBo you're right, customer or sat bikes are NOT the same as the official ones, whatever the loot or fat polenta, they are never the same. POINT

how strange, for meda and Taliban fans the 46 always laps with the times of the leaders... especially in Indy but...... it arrives 20" behind the leaders even the Taliban report the numbers but always 20" maybe they haven't understood yet that RACES are the sum of ALL times and not just a few if not individual laps.

how strange, the 46 was supposed to send everyone home on the m1 and win (as fatman says) by detachment and instead it's pitiful, of course he's 4th but 4th in his language is being the 3rd of the LOSERS.

How strange, maybe the director of Quattroruote was right

How strange, the times or gaps that the Ducati gets are in line with what the super-designer-rider-with-the-second-in-the-wrist took, therefore a normal rider, nothing more without help.

How strange that he has NOT written a book (he certainly isn't capable of it) with the title: stories of tyres, rubbers, help, help, various blackmail and crazy scenes.

        how strange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, come on... Since you claim (like that poor man from Mugello, but you know him well, right?) that Cal's bike is so different from the factory ones, tell me where the differences are...

Frame, engine, electronics, forks and swingarm and tank (the fake one) are identical to the official ones. The brakes are different, but why does Cal use them differently (the ones on the factory bike heat them up too much)…

What's different are the fairings, and the fact that Cal's opinion comes after that of Vale and Jorge... As well as the salary...

You're back to writing the same nonsense you wrote at the beginning, but maybe it's because you mix up the nicknames...

As usual I will not receive any noteworthy response, as usual…. But as we know, here we only respond when a pilot needs to be shot dead, the rest doesn't count...

The story that the sats are the same as the official ones arose particularly this year more to defend a battered 46 and never in the game.

Crutchlow, the 46, Bautista, Cecchinello, etc. says that the SATs are NOT the same not only in their fairings as the official ones. etc. etc. and all those who drive a sat, sometimes the differences are quite evident, sometimes they are just electronics or mappings or small details BUT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.

Why should a normal person with a clear mind NOT believe these authoritative people and believe those who have been relentlessly defending a thesis of their own for a long time? yes, it's true that the one who persists so much is the parrot-drainer in the world championship... and damn, how lucky we are with his enlightenments derived from hallucinogenic drugs.

if cal's bike was official do you think he would go with ducati?????????

    1. bcs said:

In Ducati he will actively participate in development (which he doesn't do in Yamaha), he will be a rider in an official team and above all... he will earn much, much more than now...

bcs in many ways I see it like you
or read your posts + on which enrich the reading and I see that you are able to answer facts to these 4 scoundrels who only see motorbikes in dealerships
and they only get on the rides

but with bibo it's different, remember that you are talking to a lunatic who doesn't write, only presses buttons and doesn't say anything serious or logical
simply because he doesn't know any better ^.^

just reread the first posts of this news to understand that they are just rubbish users

coward would be the right name for you

      w_the_sic?

No, I don't think so... In my opinion it's another user with a mania for gaining lots of nicknames.

I thought about it because it hasn't been heard in a long time...

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
bibo every day you give me confirmation of how crazy you are
and from today w_il_sic can confirm
    AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAH

Furthermore, you confirm that you are a disgusting racist
    SHAME ON YOU, YOU BUFFON

      Hi MM
I confirm that the more I go on the more I would send you home….
      you make yourselves pitied everywhere
I am a fisherman, a friend of mine who does carp fishing was tied to a tree and robbed of all his FISHING equipment including the car by a non-EU GROUP,
they organize illegal campsites complete with refrigerators and generators, placing nets everywhere
      killing fish
      THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHERE THEY FISH THEY LEAVE GARBAGE EVERYWHERE
you will tell me not to generalize...
it's true but every time I go to the post office or the emergency room who is the one who tries to sneak past you???
Who is it that breaks the lie insistently and sometimes maliciously to get money in public car parks??
I was in Holland again this year and the difference between the native neighborhoods and the others is abysmal, I even saw women urinating in the street...it's like being in the Bronx
      these people only bring problems
they only live on their wits and subsidies for me they are just a problem for the country
if 70% of them are in prison there must be a reason…………
so I wouldn't be so proud if I were you……….

dear bibo I finally read a post with some content inside
        INCREDIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEE
(even if they have nothing to do with the topic of the speech)
and I give you more than pleasure
do you mean only the poor people who exploit your country by non-EU citizens?
if so you are wrong I am a native Australian or have an Australian passport therefore I am an extra too
but I (lucky me) don't exploit your country by taking subsidies or anything like that
as already said, I live very well on what my father and I have created
and here I am on holiday, for a little while longer (even if I have some work things to do)
I like Italy if I tease you about your country because you piss me off with certain comments and I also enjoy it a bit ^.^

but as you do, generalizing a non-EU citizen is not the right thing
It's true that all this makes you angry, but do you think that among you Italians there aren't people like that? who did abroad what they do here?
that is not a justification let me be clear, and to tell you that the whole world is a country I have been around a lot and seen many good and bad things and it is not always the fault of the extras
so I feel sorry for you and your friend
but you can't generalize and say non-EU citizen = thief, they're not all like that
perhaps your laws are and have been too permissive, we don't enter Australia so easily, we may be more racist than you, but we protect our country, at least from that point of view, then there are also many problems………… ……..

    in fact
I, from Reggio Emilia, if I go to another town, I adapt to its customs, otherwise I stay at home,
you do well in Australia, I have friends who have looked for work with you and I know how it works
    about racism
I am a guest of friends in the Netherlands, Dutch husband, wife of Curocao (black), we have been going on holidays together for years, do you know what they told me? that blacks, despite living on the backs of the community with subsidies and gimmicks, are racist towards us...
as far as Italians abroad are concerned, unfortunately we have exported the mafia everywhere...
I understand if Italians are viewed badly abroad...

Usually those who have a large company, company etc...

Yes, you still have little vacation time, school will start soon.
