La Bridgestone, let it be known through Shinji Aoki, tire development manager of the motorsport department, who after the problems they had with their tires at Assen, several new features are planned for the Mugello grand prix which will take place in 10 days, on July 15th.

“Three riders in Assen had problems with the rear tire during the race – Aoki said – and this is due to excessive heating which led to pieces of the tire coming off. In Assen there were several factors that led to this increase in temperature: firstly this year it has been hotter, then the increase in displacement from 800cc to 1000cc has increased the weight of the bikes and also the layout of the circuit has changed, which has made the track longer than 12 months ago . Of course we were aware of the differences there were this year on the Dutch track, but problems also arose due to the setup of some bikes and the riding style of some riders.
After the race we analyzed the tires as we do every time. All tires are subjected to various tests and analyzes showed that the problems are not due to a manufacturing defect.
However, as a precaution we are producing a new rear tire which will be brought to the track for the next Mugello GP. The lesson we learned in Assen taught us that we will have to pay maximum attention to safety and therefore we will subject our tires to even more severe tests. Furthermore, based on the circuits we will decide whether to bring different tyres"
