Bradley Smith signed with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team last week and will therefore be a MotoGP rider from next year. Many wonder why the Briton had that saddle, to the detriment of several young Moto2 riders who, however, are much faster than him. In fact, Smith has been lost since he moved from 2011cc 125-stroke to Moto2 2-stroke in 4, but despite two years of anonymity, next year he will be in MotoGP.

The Briton is well aware that his signing was welcomed with a lot of skepticism by industry insiders and said to the crash.net website “Many people say they don't understand why I had a chance for MotoGP and they say it by looking at the results of this season. I was crazy to try and justify myself to these people who have every right to say their opinion. However, I want to tell them that the results that come out do not always tell the truth of things. I've put my heart and soul into the Tech3 project in Moto2 over the last year and a half and last year we did a good job, ultimately achieving three podiums. This year there were difficulties and we got stuck a bit. But the team took into consideration my past successesthat is, having won three grand prix so far and having fought for the world championship until the end."

Indeed, Smith won three races and ended 2009 in second place in the standings, but his successes can all be traced back to when he led the 2-strokes in 125, while he has never shone in Moto2, unlike others who will remain out of MotoGP next year too.
