MotoGP Austin, Qualifying 2: An amazing Marquez scores the first pole in the Top ClassMotoGP Austin, Qualifying 2: An amazing Marquez scores the first pole in the Top Class

The pole position of Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas MotoGP class, the second stage of the 2013 world championship went to an amazing Marc Marquez, who achieved his first pole position in his second race in the Top Class. The Honda rookie lapped in 2:03.021, even better than the one set in the tests a month ago by the same Repsol Honda Team rider.

A reality that of the 2 Moto2012 champion who forcefully enters the elite of the premier class, where champions of the caliber of Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi have surrendered (at least in these Q2s) to his talent. It was clear from the tests that he liked this track (new for everyone), but the tests are one thing and the GP weekend is another. Even as a "cabroncito" pace he is in very good shape and tomorrow he will be one of the main protagonists of the race. Marquez is now the youngest rider to reach pole in the premier class, 20 years and 62 days against Freddie Spencer's 20 years and 154 days, who also has the record of youngest rider to win in the premier class at risk. In fact, the Honda rookie has until Silverstone to beat this record too, assuming he doesn't manage to do so tomorrow!

Behind him was team-mate Dani Pedrosa, who understood that he had his first opponent in the garage in 2013. The driver from Sabadell, trailing by 254 thousandths, put the reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo behind him, third but trailing by over a second from the top. The Majorcan from Yamaha preceded his brand mate Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha Sat of Team Tech 3), Stefan Bradl with the Honda of Team LCR and the Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso, sixth at 1"852.

Qualifying to forget for Valentino Rossi, who, just like in Qatar, will start far from the leaders. In fact, the Yamaha rider from Pesaro did not go beyond the eighth time, which means third row. Tomorrow in the race he will have to repeat Losail's comeback if he wants to battle for the victory with the leaders, but the gap of 2.359 is really heavy.

I think and hope that the quatar was a lucky episode for 23×2, as has already happened once in 2 years with ducati…. calculating that at the last second he managed to pass in front of Alex Espargaro who is riding an “ART HRC REPSOL YAMAHA FACTORY SUPER OFFICIALE”…. and from today I discovered (from a fruit seller) that fennels are yellow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everyone is convinced!!!!

Hm…. Call me old or conservative or whatever you want, but I liked it better when they went around for an hour looking for the best time than seeing 15 minutes and not even 2 or 3 laps.... booooooh!!!!!!

It was exactly the comment I made when they published the news of the new qualifications!
Except that, as usual, they gave me red thumbs, but anyway they give me red thumbs even if I post a blank comment...

There is no need for intelligent comments, also because there are already a row of them in here who make "intelligent" comments...very intelligent.
We idiots, on the other hand, aren't up to par and make idiotic comments: look, we insult ourselves so you won't even have this satisfaction anymore.
But we need to give a moral slap in the face to those who say that when Rossi goes badly the "yellow clowns" disappear!
It actually seemed to me that when Rossi does well, the "trolls-of-all-colors" are the ones who disappear. Always.
As for the race and the weekend in general, I said that Rossi would suck all weekend here.
And I also predicted that Marquez would be unbeatable.
in fact, I really hope he wins tomorrow!
And I would also like to see the podium completed by Lorenzo and maybe Crutchlow…

but how??? wise man…. when at the first race I said on Thursday that the Hondas wouldn't be in the game, no one gave me shit... now you who are our enlightener number 3 say this wrong in speaking???? so tell me what to do... if I'm serious I'll be attacked if I reply to the rubbish you throw at me I'm a... make up your mind!!!!!!!

…testoner, please…can't you see he's suffering? You're really heartless...and then do we want to say a few words about Uccio? After years he has had a problem and can't chat with his little friend... these are problems... try to understand those who suffer for a just cause... they would prefer to lose their jobs than see the nurse third... true Tavullian fundamentalists!! !

      2. W_il_Sic said:

Sorry Testoner, I don't understand your reaction?
What did I do wrong this time?
I don't seem to have mentioned you or insulted you or anything... you didn't appear in my post above.
Mine was only a remainder of the prediction that I allowed myself to make at the end of the Austin tests and neither then nor now do I seem to have gone against you in any way.
Indeed, from what you wrote here, I seem to understand that you had made the same predictions as me, so welcome...

The priority for everyone should be to see fun races but evidently we don't all have fun in the same way... However, the race promises to be interesting as I don't think Marquez will be able to go away alone like Lorenzo did, it's one thing to do 2-3 fast laps and another maintaining a fast pace for the whole race alone and without references, anyway we'll see... The "geriatrician" seems to be in serious difficulty but it is also true that he is unpredictable as the bad guys know well, who have not left going to careless and risky comments like after the qualifications in Qatar.. Maybe the blow I received still hurts..?? ;-)))

    1. tester said:

@bestferm. in the meantime read all the comments and not just the ones that are convenient for you... and then maybe it's you who got excited too soon???? that in the race he is the one who brings out the most is not up for debate... but just as the Hondas were in difficulty in Quatar, since Thursday we knew that the Yamahas were in difficulty here... except that you yellowish street fans can say and do what you want…. we are criticized if we make a comment, whether technical or ridiculous.... but you must take care of yourself…..

  • Bestlap said:

What the hell do you want..? who gives a shit..? Why would yours be a technical comment..? Lucky episode, which one? the one in which the "geriatrician" recovered 0 seconds and made 4 overtakes to reach the 11 in front of him..? If you call that luck, you've chosen exactly the right nik, you're a real stubborn person..!! Go back to being a "greengrocer" which is better..!! And she learns to write while you're at it: IT IS WRITTEN QATAR AND NOT "QUATAR" AS YOU WROTE YOU IGNORANT TAMARRO... !!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. tester said:

@best…. I've always admitted that I'm ignorant and that I don't even have a high school diploma... damn, you're nothing else!! and I repeat that if you read what is convenient for you, that's your problem. the comments I was saying were referring to the "QUATAR" I'm writing it like this because I'm ignorant... but you're probably only looking for those who attack you because you have no arguments... cucumber that you are nothing else!!!!!!!!!! !

      1. tester said:

and then since you're so much of a professor... how many seconds did you recover from Lorenzo in "QUATAR"?? but no, only overtaking counts... It is true!! defeated him and his fans!

    2. fatman said:

...come on, the ENT wins by detachment...don't get angry with testoner, think about the burgman!!!

Sorry, tester, your friend calls you an imbecile and you support him, then no one can tell you that you're a knucklehead.

You're a scoundrel, and I'm sorry that you're being taken in by a scoundrel worse than you.

The insults always come from you first, fatman and you in the lead.

I'm still calm, and I won't respond in kind, but if you continue like this I will make you ashamed of every word you post.

the first opponent is his teammate... 46:2, he got a lesson from Lorenzo, what a great race... he risked causing Pedrosa to fall, but of course it wasn't his fault...
as the qualifications were more boring before, they always came out at the last minute...

    1. fatman said:

...but no, come on...now they are friends, even the father Graziano said that with Lorenzo there will be no problem of coexistence...it's a shame that years ago there was a wall dividing them and the data was hidden between the two teams...who knows 'Who was it that wanted all this'...well!!!
Nice example of coherence...it's a bit like being a biaggi fan and suddenly becoming a "geriatrist", jumping on the winning bandwagon...my compliments!!

PS any reference to people on the forum is purely coincidental ah, ah, ah!!!

...I must say that the comments are becoming increasingly poor in technique...anyway, apart from the teasing that I also take part in from time to time, I would also like to focus on the qualifying round, summarizing it this way:

    1) Marquez: Spectacular riding style and amazing speed, phenomenal qualities that confirm him as the new talent destined to become one of the greatest ever.

    2) Dani: he's in the shit for two reasons, the first is his teammate and the second is that this is perhaps his last year to win the title, however I believe that the Spaniard has all it takes to be able to make his the 2013 title, he has the bike, speed, talent and very importantly he has a lot of experience compared to Marc and this could be the real balance between Repsol.

    3) Jorge: He won't give up an inch even if his bike on this circuit is not as competitive as the Hondas, he is a very strong and concrete rider, he will always know how to maximize the potential of the bike as we saw in the tests in Austin... the champion of he is the world and it won't be easy to take the scepter away from him... moreover he definitely has an excellent means of defending the title even if in some pits (see Austin) he will have to aim for the podium or in any case to score as many points as possible.

    4) Rossi: He's not as fast as he used to be... in fact he's slower even than less famous riders... at least on the flying lap. The Rossi era ended in 2009, but this doesn't mean that he remains a very formidable opponent in the race for everyone and able to constantly aim for podiums and therefore take away important points from Jorge and the two Hondas...victories? maybe on 2-3 tracks he could also be the favourite.. like Assen but also in Italy..

    5) Dovizioso: A wonderful surprise... better than Hayden and Rossi for the moment... at least in qualifying... let's see how the bike behaves in the race.

Honda: A motorbike from another planet..
Yamaha: A perfect weapon...or almost...it has always had and maintained its strong points...will they be enough?

Ducati: A lot of work and more work, a very important year to collect data and lay the development basis for the 0 point 2014 bike…
