MotoGP Assen: Rossi phenomenal, victory over an immense Petrucci, Vinales down, world championship reopened
The Yamaha rider from Pesaro returns to success, Dovizioso new world championship leader
Dutch GP MotoGP Race – The MotoGP class Dutch Grand Prix will long be remembered as one of the best races of recent years. Thanks to the weather, which had its hand with a few drops of rain with 7 laps to go, we witnessed a phenomenal race, which went to an amazing Valentino Rossi, who in a breathtaking final race beat Danilo Petrucci and Marc Marquez, returning to victory, a victory he had missed since Barcelona 2016.
For Valentino Rossi it is victory number 89 in the Top Class, number 115 in his career. It is also the Yamaha champion's tenth victory at Assen. For Petrucci it is the third podium after those at Silverstone in 2016 and Mugello this year.
The new Yamaha chassis has given the energy back to Rossi, who is now more than ever in the running for the world championship, who we remember will immediately return to the track at the Sachsenring next Sunday.
Thanks to the crash of Maverick Vinales and the fifth place of Andrea Dovizioso, the latter is the new world championship leader. Dovizioso has 115 points against 111 for Maverick Vinales, 108 for Valentino Rossi and 104 for Marc Marquez. Click here to see the entire ranking.
