Jorge Lorenzo finished the first day of the Iveco de Aragon GP in fourth place, the fourteenth stage of the 2013 world championship. The reigning Yamaha champion was unable to improve the bike compared to the Free Practice 1, which instead his rivals did with Honda. However, he remains confident for the remainder of the weekend, the word is up to him.

“We hoped to improve the bike compared to this morning, but we weren't able to do so. I don't have the same feeling we had when we were here for the test. We have to continue working to improve the bike and the pace. The other riders are improving, but we remain optimistic. We can improve and take another step forward. We need to be competitive in all conditions.”

Well this morning Lorenzo and Marquez seemed more stuck to me, in the sense that they were struggling more to improve.

I didn't see much this afternoon, so it's difficult for me to judge. I think the Honda riders have fitted or were fitting new or even worn soft tires on the rear. I think whoever attempted the tempo used the soft new Marquez type at the start. However, it seems to me that the Honda riders in general and especially the HRC ones can easily lap under 1.50 while the others struggle much more.

Even Jorge, who I don't think I saw riding today, has made a good gap, perhaps with the track becoming more rubbery it will be better, but it is fairly well known that the Yamahas this year are doing better with slightly lower temperatures. It seems to me that Aragon has a very abrasive asphalt, so if the Yamahas have wear problems after just a few laps under their belt, I imagine that it would be even worse for the Ducatis, and if the extra hard one isn't good, I think that like the year last year the Hondas will be favourites. Last year Pedrosa took more than 6 seconds off Lorenzo, so I imagine that this year perhaps there won't be much difference, even if Jorge goes on the run I think they would catch him this time. Maybe it's Jorge's pre-tactic to show he's in more difficulty than he actually is, but all the Hondas seem more competitive than usual, so I think it's really a question of which bike is best suited to this circuit.
