MotoGP GP Malaysia Repsol Honda – Marc Marquez will start from the front row, third fastest in the Malaysian Grand Prix, the 18th round of the 2022 MotoGP.

As usual, the Honda rider took advantage of the slipstream of his opponents, especially Pecco Bagnaia, something that Ducati and especially Team Manager Davide Tardozzi didn't like.

The eight-time world champion defended himself by saying that he acts within the regulations and that being behind does not hinder anyone. Here's what he said to Sky Sport MotoGP.

Marc Marquez Statements Malaysian GP Qualifying Sepang MotoGP 2022

“I did my best laps alone, which is inexplicable, given what we lose on the straights. The first when Miller crashed in FP1 and the other when Bagnaia crashed in Q2. However, we don't have the race pace, we didn't go well in FP4 and I don't think I can repeat the performance of Phillip Island, I think more in an eighth/tenth position. It will be a long and difficult race, we can go fast on one lap but not over the course of the race.”

“I understand Ducati, but at the moment they have a crazy engine and following them is the only way not to lose three tenths on the two straights. If I had their engine I wouldn't take advantage of their slipstream, but at the moment our bike is slower. I don't do anything outside of the regulations, I don't disturb anyone by putting myself behind, unlike what Morbidelli did this morning, when he slowed down on the racing line (he was then penalized with a double long-lap penalty, ed.). Now they complain that I take the slip, but in 2014/15/16 they did it to me and I never said anything."
