MotoGP | Argentina GP: Aprilia makes history, first triumph in Top Class [PHOTO GALLERY]
First victory for the Venetian company in Top Class, beating Ducati and Suzuki
MotoGP GP Argentina Race – Sunday 3 April 2022, a date that few will forget in Noale (and not only), after Aleix Espargarò's historic triumph in Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina.
The Spanish rider led the Aprilia RS-GP to success, its first victory in the Top Class, which coincides with the first victory of the #41 of the Venetian manufacturer, in its 200th start in the MotoGP.
After the pole position, also historic, Espargarò brought his RS-GP to the finish line ahead of another Italian bike, Jorge Martin's Ducati Pramac and Alex Rins' Suzuki.
A success that started a long time ago and which projects the eldest of the Espargarò brothers to the top of the World rankings, with 45 points against 38 for Brad Binder and 36 for Enea Bastianini.
Pecco Bagnaia limits the damage and, after starting from the rear, reaches the finish line fifth ahead of Brad Binder's KTM, the Aprilia of a revived Maverick Vinales and the reigning champion Fabio Quartararo, the only Yamaha with points.
An excellent race for the Ducati Mooney VR46 Racing Team rookie, Marco Bezzecchi, who crossed the finish line in ninth position ahead of Enea Bastianini (Ducati Gresini) and team-mate Luca Marini, who started from the front row and had a drop in tyres.
Race to forget for Andrea Dovizioso and Franco Morbidelli. The Team WithU Yamaha RNF rider made a mistake by not unlocking the front lowering device and had to return to the pits (he then restarted but the race was now compromised, apologizing to the team), while the official Yamaha rider had a puncture on rear tire.
The race ended with a fall for Ducati riders Johann Zarco (Pramac) and rookie Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini), both without physical consequences.
