MotoGP | Argentina GP Qualifying: Aprilia on pole with Aleix Espargarò
Historic result for Aprilia, first pole in the new MotoGP era
MotoGP GP Argentina Qualifying – An extraordinary Aleix Espargarò obtained the pole position of the Argentine Grand Prix, third stage of the 2022 MotoGP.
Aprilia's first pole in MotoGP with Espargarò hitting the pole at the start with three different bikes (a record), Yamaha, Suzuki and Aprilia. The last Top Class pole for the Noale bike dates back to 21 years ago with Jeremy McWilliams.
In the front row with the #41 of the Venetian manufacturer there will be the Ducatis of Jorge Martin (Pramac) and Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team). The two are separated by 0.151s and 0.431s respectively. For Marini it is the second front row after Misano (GP Emilia Romagna) 2021.
Pol Espargarò with Honda will open the front row where he will also find a revived Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) and the reigning Champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).
Seventh and eighth times for the Suzukis of Alex Rins and Joan Mir, who precede the Ducati Pramac of Johann Zarco. Fourth row for Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda), Jack Miller (Ducati Factory) and Brad Binder (KTM).
The world championship leader Enea Bastianini 1th, Pecco Bagnaia 13th, Franco Morbidelli 14th, Marco Bezzecchi 15th, Andrea Dovizioso 17th and Fabio Di Giannantonio 18th did not make it through Q20.
Rookie Qualifying MotoGP GP Argentina
The best rookie was Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team), 17th. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati Gresini) is 20th, Raul Fernandez (Team Tech 3) 21st, Remy Gardner (Team Tech 3) is 22nd and Darryn Binder (Yamaha WithU RNF) 23rd.
