MotoGP Gp Algarve Portimao Race – Francesco Bagnaia dominated the MotoGP class Algarve Grand Prix, the 17th and penultimate round of the 2021 MotoGP.

The Ducati pole-man immediately took command of operations, going on to win by a wide margin over Joan Mir (Suzuki), the outgoing MotoGP champion. Also on the podium was the second official Ducati, that of Jack Miller.

For Bagnaia it is the third victory of the season after those of Aragon and Misano 1, a victory built since the tests, where "Pecco" from FP3 onwards has always been at the top of the time table, including the warm up.

This victory gives the constructors' title to Ducati for the second consecutive season.

Fourth at the finish line was a great Alex Marquez (Honda LCR), who fought for third position with Miller and who was also ahead of the #43 Ducati for a few laps.

Marquez preceded Johann Zarco's Ducati Pramac, Pol Espargarò's Honda, Jorge Martin's second Ducati Pramac and Alex Rins' Suzuki. Ninth at the finish line was Ducati rookie Enea Bastianini (Avintia), who preceded Brad Binder (KTM), Takaaki Nakagami (Honda LCR) and Ducati Avintia Sky VR46 rookie, Luca Marini.

Dull race for the Yamahas; Fabio Quartararo (new MotoGP world champion) crashed with five laps to go while fighting for fifth position, while Valentino Rossi, 13th, Andrea Dovizioso 14th and Franco Morbidelli 17th finished in the rear.

Danilo Petrucci's race should be forgotten (penultimate race in MotoGP before doing the Dakar again with KTM), who fell after 4 corners on the first lap after being "touched" by another KTM rider, a fall fortunately without consequences. Aleix Espargarò also on the ground with the Aprilia.

The race was interrupted two laps away due to a red flag displayed due to the crash triggered by Iker Lecuona and involving Miguel Oliveira. The Portuguese driver lost consciousness for 15/20 seconds and was then transported to the medical centre. He may go to hospital for a CT scan.

We remember the absence of Marc Marquez, who suffered a mild concussion while training with his enduro bike (Click here to find out more).
