MotoGP | GP Portimao 2 Qualifying: Ducati double, Bagnaia on pole ahead of Miller

MotoGP Gp Algarve Portimao Qualifying – Francesco Bagnaia obtained the pole position of the MotoGP class Algarve Grand Prix, the 17th and penultimate round of the 2021 MotoGP, scheduled for tomorrow on the Portimao circuit.

The Ducati rider, at his sixth pole of the season (fifth in a row), set the track record with a time of 1:38.725, ahead of team-mate Jack Miller by 0.104s. Excellent third time for Joan Mir's Suzuki, which closes the front row.

The two Pramac Ducatis of Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco are on the second row ahead of the Repsol Honda of Pol Espargarò. The new World Champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha Factory) finished qualifying in seventh position and will share the third row with Alex Marquez (LCR Honda) and Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha Factory).

Tenth time and fourth row for Iker Lecuona, who on the KTM of Team Tech 3 preceded the Suzuki of Alex Rins and the Ducati Sky VR46 Avintia of rookie Luca Marini, who crashed without consequences.

Enea Bastianini (rookie Ducati Avintia) is 13th, ahead of Aleix Espargarò's Aprilia, which in turn precedes the KTM Tech 3 of Danilo Petrucci and Valentino Rossi from Terni, 16th with the Yamaha Petronas.

Andrea Dovizioso (Yamaha Petronas) will start back, 21st, preceded by Miguel Oliveira (KTM), Maverick Vinales (Aprilia), Brad Binder (KTM) and Stefan Bradl, who replaces the injured Marc Marquez, who suffered a mild concussion while he trained with the enduro motorbike (Click here to find out more).
