MotoGP | GP Austin FP2: Marquez at the top, Quartararo third, Bagnaia sixth
Enea Bastianini was excellent in tenth, Dovizioso did well, finishing 14th
MotoGP Gp Americas Austin Free Practice 1 – Marc Marquez, after obtaining the best time in the first session of the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas, also repeated himself in Free Practice 2, held in the dry.
The Honda champion led the competition with a time of 2:04.164, beating an excellent Jack Miller on a Ducati by just 15 thousandths.
Third time for the leader of the world championship classification Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha Factory), who has a gap of 0.202s ahead of the Hondas of Pol Espargarò (HRC) and Takaaki Nakagami (LCR).
Francesco Bagnaia, who has to recover 48 points from Quartararo in the Championship, is sixth, ahead of his team mates from Team Pramac, Jorge Martin (category rookie) and Johann Zarco.
Also in the provisional Top Ten are the Suzuki of Alex Rins and a great Enea Bastianini (rookie Ducati Avintia) who had achieved his first podium in the Top Class at Misano. Five Ducatis in the top ten positions, an excellent start for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.
The other Ducati rookie, Luca Marini (Sky VR46 Avintia) is twelfth, ahead of the reigning champion Joan Mir (Suzuki). Andrea Dovizioso had a very good performance, returning to the saddle of the Yamaha (Petronas) in Misano after being "still" for almost a year.
The “Dovi” who pays a gap from Marquez of less than a second is fourteenth and ahead of Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha Factory), who returned from Misano after knee surgery.
Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Petronas) finished seventeenth, while Danilo Petrucci (KTM Tech 3) was twentieth, ahead of his team-mate Iker Lecuona.
