MotoGP World Championship – Dorna Sports announced the signing of a new five-year agreement with Independent Teams from 2022 to 2026. IRTA, the International Road-Racing Teams Association, was founded in 1986 and gives teams a voice in the decision-making process, ensuring that their interests are represented and protected.

Since Dorna Sports became the commercial rights holder of the FIM MotoGP World Championship in 1992, IRTA has been a vital part of MotoGP's ever-growing success.

This is the seventh agreement signed between IRTA and Dorna, as both parties work together to increase sporting and financial support to level the playing field.

The growing success of the Independent Teams has been seen especially in recent years, when the riders of these teams have fought for podiums and victories.

Although agreements with teams in the intermediate and lightweight classes renew each year, this five-year extension strengthens the future of Moto2 and Moto3 as well as increasing financial support for both.

This new agreement between IRTA, Independent Teams and Dorna will ensure that this collaboration continues to grow for at least another five years as all parties work to create the best MotoGP World Championship.

“We have great news, before 2021 begins. Times are not easy and being able to give continuity to this commitment is fundamental, having a promoter like Dorna on our side is a dream. The safety of racing, the technical aspects and the entertainment have grown incessantly since 1992 and this is thanks to the great work of Dorna, IRTA, the manufacturers and the stables.”
