MotoGP Legend – During the 2020 MotoGP World Championship Max Biaggi (in the photo riding the Honda MotoGP, ed.), Jorge Lorenzo and Hugh Anderson they will become “MotoGP Legends” by entering the MotoGP “Hall of Fame”.

The first to do so will be the Mallorcan rider, during the Jerez GP, then at Mugello it will be the turn of "The Roman Emperor", while the New Zealander will be "crowned" at Phillip Island.

Lorenzo of the three is the one who retired the shortest time, exactly at the end of 2019. The Majorcan won his first race in 2003 and reached 68 in 2018. Twice 250cc world champion (2006 and 2007) he became champion of the world championship in the top category on three occasions aboard Yamaha (2010, 2012 and 2015). With Yamaha he achieved 44 victories before moving to Ducati (three victories) and then to Honda (no success).

Statements Jorge Lorenzo MotoGP Legend

“Being named MotoGP Legend makes me extremely happy. I must say that when I started in this world the most I aspired to was to participate in the World Championship. Then I managed to win races and then five titles, and it was something above my expectations. Now, becoming a MotoGP legend is an even more difficult goal to achieve. Receiving this recognition means that, apart from the titles, you have left something to the people and the history of this sport. I thank Dorna and the FIM for all their support over these years and for choosing me to join such a selective group of riders.”

Max Biaggi won the 250cc class title for four consecutive years (1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997) and subsequently moved to the 500 class, winning on his debut at Suzuka, concluding the championship with second place in the general classification. From 1998 to 2005 he won 13 GPs in the premier class and was vice-world champion three times. Subsequently moving on to Superbike he won the championship in 2010 and 2012

“It honors me to become a MotoGP legend and know that my name will be there forever together with that of other important riders such as Agostini, Aspar, Nieto, Sheene… I am very happy to know that my name will always be remembered and it is an honor receive this recognition after many years of hard work. I would like to thank everyone who has decided to honor me with this recognition.”

Hugh Anderson will be rewarded as mentioned during the Australian GP. The New Zealand rider made his debut in 1960, participating in both the 500cc and 350cc classes. Subsequently he raced and won races in the 125cc and 50cc classes and in 1963 the New Zealander participated in both categories, becoming world champion in both 125cc and 50cc. He also won the 50cc class the following year, thus obtaining two consecutive titles, while he came third in the 125cc category, a title he then won in 1965. He retired in 1966 after having obtained 25 victories and four world titles in six years.
