MotoGP 2020 Honda Repsol – Marc Marquez underwent a second operation today, Monday 3 August, after the titanium plate used to repair his right humerus suffered damage due to stress accumulation.

Doctor Xavier Mir and his team at Dexeus University Hospital have successfully replaced the titanium plate and Marc Marquez will remain in hospital for 48 hours before being discharged.

Statements by Dr. Xavier Mir new operation Marc Marquez right humerus

“Marc Marquez underwent surgery 13 days ago and today he returned to the operating room. The first operation was successful, what was not expected was that the plate was insufficient. An accumulation of stress in the operated area caused some damage to the plate, so today the titanium plate was removed and replaced with a new one. The pilot felt no pain during this period. He always followed the medical advice given and the feeling from his body. Unfortunately, excessive stress has caused this problem. Now we have to wait 48 hours to understand the recovery time.”

His participation in the Czech Republic Grand Prix, scheduled for August 9th, is in strong doubt. We also remember that MotoGP will not stop and that it will be on track, this time in Austria for a double race at Spielberg on 16 and 23 August.

An increasingly uphill world championship for the eight-time world champion, who is perhaps paying a high price for wanting to be at Jerez 2 at all costs, but when you say "fit" to a rider he certainly doesn't hold back.
