It is the first success in MotoGP for the Suzuki rider, who extends his lead in the Championship. Mir beat team-mate Alex Rins and Pol Espargarò's KTM. A one-two for Suzuki which places two riders at the top of the world championship, Rins is in fact second in the standings on equal points with Fabio Quartararo, with the latter crashing and then getting back on the bike to finish fourteenth.
The Ducatis sink, saved by Jack Miller in sixth on the Desmosedici of Team Pramac. Andrea Dovizioso reached the finish line eighth, while Danilo Petrucci finished tenth.
A day to forget for Yamaha too. Valentino Rossi retired after a few laps due to a problem with his M1, while his team-mate Maverick Vinales, forced to start from the pit lane for having used the sixth engine of the five available, finished the race in thirteenth position, two positions behind Franco Morbidelli.
With this success Joan Mir takes himself to 162 points against the 125 of the Quartararo and Rins duo, the 121 of Vinales and the 117 of Morbidelli and Dovizioso.
