MotoGP – Phillip Island Day 1 – Excellent fourth time for Alex De Angelis
A warm sun welcomed the MotoGP circus to Phillip Island today for the start of the Australian Grand Prix. On a track that is still affected by the cold and wet of recent days - making it more treacherous than usual - Team San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Alex De Angelis set the fourth fastest time aboard his satellite Honda RC212V. The San Marino rider immediately had a good feeling with his bike, as has already happened on all the fast tracks where he raced. The word is up to him.
“It was a good test session: I immediately had a good feeling with the bike, as has already happened on all the fast tracks we have raced on this year. Some grip problems at the rear made the bike slightly unstable but, given the temperature, I think it was the same for everyone. There was a moment when I hit the curb while braking, causing the bike to skid significantly... even though it seemed dangerous on television, in reality everything was under control! We still have room to improve, and it's important to maintain our position... I expect the others to lower their times tomorrow too.”
