Moto3 Valencia, Free Practice 1: Salom in the lead, Antonelli seventh
The world championship leader preceded Maverick Vinales and Jonas Folger
Luis Salom set the best time in the first free practice session of the Moto3 class in Valencia. The world championship leader achieved it with a time of 1:40.403, preceding his compatriot Maverick Vinales by 252 thousandths, who trails him in the standings by just two points.
Third time for Jonas Folger's Kalex KTM. The German from Team Aspar who lapped in 1:40.956 is ahead of the KTM of Alex Rins (another rider in contention for the world championship, he is in fact only 5 points from the top), the FTR Honda of the Australian Jack Miller and the Mahindra of Efren Vazquez.
Niccolò Antonelli, seventh, is the best of the Italian drivers. The Team Gresini centaur precedes the Malaysian of Team Red Bull KTM Ajo Zulfahmi Khairuddin, the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira and Romano Fenati, who closes the Top Ten with the FTR Honda of San Carlo Team Italia.
Immediately behind the next driver of the newly formed Team VR46 is Ana Carrasco, only 31 thousandths behind the driver from Ascoli. Twelfth time for Alex Marquez, brother of Marc, leader of the MotoGP world championship.
The other Italian drivers are Lorenzo Baldassarri seventeenth, Matteo Ferrari twenty-seventh and Francesco Bagnaia thirty-second.
