Moto3 Motegi, Free Practice: Maverick Vinales is the fastest
Antonelli and Fenati did well, setting the sixth and eighth times
The Moto3 class (as will MotoGP and Moto2 later) held a free practice session this morning instead of the usual Warm Up. This is due to the cancellation of the previous free practice sessions due to weather conditions. In practice all three classes only competed in qualifying (in the wet), while this morning they ran in the dry.
The fastest of this 35-minute session (which was interrupted for a few minutes due to fog) was Maverick Vinales, rider of Team Calvo. The Spaniard set a best time of 1:59.701, ahead of his compatriots Alex Marquez, Luis Salom and Alex Rins, who were 194, 267 and 351 thousandths behind respectively.
Fifth time for Jonas Folger, sixth for our Niccolò Antonelli, seventh for Isaac Vinales and eighth for Romano Fenati. Closing out the Top Ten are the Malaysian Zulfahmi Khairuddin and the Portuguese from Mahindra Miguel Oliveira.
Good fourteenth time for Ana Carrasco, the only representative of the fairer sex on the track. The other Italians are further back, Bagnaia is in fact twenty-second, Baldassarri thirty and Ferrari thirty-fourth.
