Matteo Ferrari saw the checkered flag for the first time this year. However, the San Carlo Team Italia rider is not satisfied with his twenty-fifth position obtained in Jerez de la Frontera. A clutch problem on his Mahindra forced him to go "long" twice and therefore had to recover. The word is up to him.

“The positive note is that I completed my first race of the season, but I can't be satisfied. I had a good pace and the chronometric references on my pace testify to this, but unfortunately I was penalized by a clutch problem. Due to this inconvenience I went "long" twice, I lost ground having to start the comeback from scratch. It's a shame because at times we are increasingly closer to the top-15 and, I am convinced, today at least a top 20 placement could have been within our reach. Apart from this problem, I can be happy with the fact that this weekend I regained confidence with my Mahindra: the feeling has grown dramatically compared to previous races, I felt the bike on the bike well. Today I gave my all to get to the end and I want to thank the whole team who worked very well.”

His team-mate Andrea Locatelli was also present in Jerez, despite the injury reported last week in Argentina. He wanted to be present to make the team feel his “presence”.

“After my injury in Argentina I immediately thought: I want to be in Jerez! I believe it is important to stay close to the team, which is always supportive, to honor my commitment to San Carlo Team Italia and the FMI. However, this "forced stop" had a positive outcome, I had the opportunity to observe the other riders and this will certainly be useful to me as I am in my first year in the MotoGP. All in all, negative things can be transformed into possibilities for personal growth. I am here in Jerez de La Frontera also to continue the rehabilitation therapy in the Mobile Clinic; after the accident in Argentina they took care of me promptly and attentively, here every day they subject me to magnetotherapy and keep me under observation to help me recover as soon as possible. My gratitude goes to all the doctors of the Mobile Clinic and to Dr. Michele Zasa for the care I received.”
