Moto3 | GP Portimao FP3: Ortolà the fastest, the Italians do badly
Only Stefano Nepa of the "azzurri" enters directly into Q2
Moto3 Portuguese GP Free Practice 3 – Ivan Ortolà was the fastest in the third free practice session of the Moto3 class Portuguese Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2023 MotoGP world championship.
The MTA team rider on KTM, in a session characterized by numerous crashes, stopped the time at 1:46.971, separating his pursuers, Josè Antonio Rueda (KTM Ajo) by just 99 thousandths and David Munoz (BOE) by 0.101s.
The all-KTM Top Five is closed by Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets) and Daniel Helgado (KTM Tech3).
The first of the "others" is Kaito Toba who, riding the Honda of the SIC58 Squadra Corse team, finished sixth followed by Ayumu Sasaki (IntactGP) and Jaume Masia (Leopard). The two standard bearers of the GAGAS team, Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso, complete the Top Ten.
Out of the ten by a whisker, but inside the 14 who directly access Q2, Stefano Nepa (KTM MTA) finishes eleventh.
All the other Italians will have to go through the Q1 trap: Matteo Bertelle (Honda Snipers), Filippo Farioli (KTM Tech 3) and Romano Fenati (Honda Snipers).
