Moto3 GP Catalonia Qualifying – Enea Bastianini wins the pole of the Moto3 class Catalan Grand Prix, seventh stage of the 2018 MotoGP. It is the first pole of the season for the Rimini native, the ninth of his career.

The Leopard team driver stopped the clock at 1:48.806 ahead of Jorge Martin and Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse). The Gresini team rider crashed halfway through the session, fortunately without consequences.

Ayumu Sasaki will start from the second row, followed by Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia) and Kaito Toba. John McPhee will start from seventh place ahead of Gabriel Rodirigo and world championship leader Marco Bezzecchi. Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Leopard) completes the top ten.

After the excellent results in free practice, Nicolò Bulega will start from the twelfth spot, a difficult session for the Sky Racing Team VR46 driver who crashed at the end of the session. Similar situation also for Fabio di Giannantonio who will start from the thirteenth spot. The Gresini team rider, after having 'demolished' the bike at the beginning of the session, only managed to get on the track in the last 3 minutes of the session.

Andrea Migno will start from the sixteenth place, while Tony Arbolino (Marinelli Snipers) recorded the 23rd time.

Of note is the absence of Niccolò Antonelli (SIC58 Squadra Corse). The rider from Cattolica suffered a dislocated shoulder following a fall in the free practice session and declared himself unfit for the race. He will be back on track for the Assen round.
