Moto3 GP Catalonia Race – Enea Bastianini wins the Catalan Grand Prix in the Moto3 class. Also on the podium was world championship leader Marco Bezzecchi.

Jorge Martin (Gresini Racing) started from the front row and managed to dictate the pace from the start, bringing Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse) with him, and separating the chasing group. Unfortunately, however, with 12 laps to go and with a lead of over two seconds, the Spaniard crashed, fortunately without consequence, but putting an end to his chase towards victory.

Without the leader, Suzuki loses reference and is absorbed by the chasing group, with Enea Bastianini taking the lead of the race. But the situation at the front of the race changes lap after lap. Masia and Bulega alternated in the lead of the race and the group of seven riders gathered within just 4 tenths of a second.

Yet another twist comes with 6 laps to go when Albert Arenas hits the rear of Aron Canet who in turn overwhelms Nicolò Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46). Race ended for the three with the Spaniard from the Estrella Galicia team taken off the circuit conscious but on a stretcher. A few laps later two other protagonists leave the stage of the race, Masia hits Migno during the fight for first position. Pilots ok.

With only 5 riders left fighting for the win, Bastianini takes command of the race at the start of the last lap. He manages to impose the pace straight away and crosses the finish line first. Behind him came the sprint between Marco Bezzecchi and Gabriel Rodrigo, with the Italian winning by just three thousandths.

'Beast' wins his third victory in the category, returning to the top step of the podium after Japan 2016, first success with the Leopard team, while Marco Bezzecchi, also thanks to numerous falls, extends his lead in the rankings.

John McPhee closes in fourth place followed by Tasuki Suzuki and Kaito Toba. Fabio di Giannantonio (Gresini Racing) finished in seventh place after an excursion into the gravel and took second place in the world rankings. Alonso Lopez finishes eighth, ahead of Dennis Foggia (Sky Racing Team VR46) and Raúl Fernández who completes the top ten.

Lorenzo dalla Porta (Leopard) finished in 17th position after being involved in a fall on the first lap.

This is the world ranking:
1 Marco Bezzecchi 103
2 Fabio Di Giannantonio 84
3 Jorge Martin 80
4 Enea Bastianini 68
5 Aron Canet 61
