Alex Rins was awarded the “Iveco de Aragon Grand Prix” Moto3 class. The Spanish KTM rider (who had achieved pole position yesterday) got the better of his compatriots Maverick Vinales and Alex Marquez, who climbed onto the podium with him. Rins let the competition "let off steam", then on the last lap when he and Vinales were left to fight for the victory he extended his lead by crossing the finish line first with almost half a second ahead of the Team Calvo rider.

World championship leader Luis Salom arrived fourth, limiting the damage. In the standings the Spaniard of Team Red Bull AJo now has 259 points against Rins' 250 and Maverick Vinales' 247.

The best of the Italians was Romano Fenati, who finished eighth. Further back Niccolò Antonelli, fourteenth. The two representatives of the fairer sex in the race, however, had mixed fortunes. The wild card Maria Herrera, after a fall on the first lap, finished in 29th position, while Ana Carrasco obtained twentieth place.

Race report

Thirteenth race of the 2013 season for the Moto3 class, a class in which Luis Salom, rider of the Red Bull KTM Ajo Team, leads the world championship standings (who will start from eighth place). In pole position in Alcaniz, theater of the “Gran Premio Iveco de Aragon”, we find Alex Rins riding the KTM of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0. On the front row with him is Maverick Vinales (KTM Team Calvo) and Alex Marquez, brother of Marc, leader of the MotoGP world championship.
Second row for the German Philipp Oettl, the Spaniard Efren Vazquez and Jonas Folger, riding the Kalex KTM of Team Aspar. The best of the Italian riders is Roman Fenati, thirteenth with the FTR Honda of San Carlo Team Italia. Two positions further back we find Niccolò Antonelli, also on an FTR Honda, but from Team Gresini.

Ana Carrasco's qualification was good, sixteenth on the KTM of Team Calvo, while her rival Maria Herrera (wild card here) is in thirty-first position. The other Italian drivers are Francesco Bagnaia seventeenth, Alessandro Tonucci twenty-fourth, Lorenzo Baldassarri twenty-ninth and Matteo Ferrari thirty-fourth. Everything is ready for the race, 20 laps to go for 101.56 km. The traffic lights go out, the fastest at the start is poleman Alex Rins, followed by team-mate Alex Marquez, Maverick Vinales, Phillip Oettl, Jonas Folger, Luis Salom, Arthur Sissis, Vazquez, Oliveira and Khairuddin.

Herrera falls! However, the girl from the Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 (winner of two races at the CEV this year) manages to start again. Too bad about her race, which was compromised anyway. The first lap ends, Rins is still in the lead ahead of Marquez and Vinales, while our Niccolò Antonelli and Romano Fenati are in thirteenth and fourteenth position.

Vinales attacks, who moves into second position, while Florian Alt and Alan Techer finish the race, fortunately falling without physical consequences. Now there is a quartet in the lead, with Vinales attacking to take the lead. Kornfeil's race also ends.

The fight between the Italians in this moment rewards Romano Fenati, the next driver of Team VR46 SKY, who is now ahead of Antonelli. The positions at the front continue to change, now Maverick Vinales, Alex Rins and Alex Marquez are fighting for the victory, while Oettl is unable to keep up. Meanwhile, there is another crash, that of Toni Finsterbuschm who was in twenty-sixth position.

Having reached the halfway point of the race, we summarize the top ten positions: Maverick Vinales, Alex Rins, Alex Marquez, Phillip Oettl, Miguel Oliveira, Luis Salom, Jonas Folger, Romano Fenati, Efren Vazquez and Alexis Masbou. Unfortunately, Matteo Ferrari's race ends, as he was in twentieth position.

A Fenati therefore making a comeback, but with seventh place more than seven seconds away. Antonelli is instead in thirteenth place. World championship leader Luis Salom moves up in position and is fighting for fourth position with Miguel Oliveria's Mahindra and Phillip Oettl's Kalex KTM. A good fight between the three, with important points up for grabs from a world championship perspective.

Bad fall for Khairuddin; the Malaysian KTM rider was the victim of a high-side while in twelfth position. However, he got up and, although in pain, did not appear to have suffered any obvious consequences.

Last laps of the race, there are two small groups fighting; the first formed by Maverick Vinales and Alex Rins is playing for the victory, while that of Salom, Oliveira and Oettl has fourth place up for grabs. Alex Marquez is in third place.

The last lap begins, Rins takes the lead, but Vinales doesn't give up, but in the end he has to surrender to the pole man who takes the victory, his fifth of the season. Vinales and Marquez on the podium.
