Moto3: Uphill start for Antonelli and Bastianini, even if the leaders are in the crosshairs

The riders of the Gresini Junior team, Niccolo Antonelli ed Enea Bastianini they finished the first day of free practice at Mugello in the rear. However, the two Italian riders, riding their Ktm, are quite close to the top, Antonelli is in fact half a second from the fastest, while his teammate is one second away, so tomorrow they will be able to have their say in the qualifying to fight for the front rows. Antonelli wants to put a stop to the series of crashes in this home GP, while the rookie Bastianini wants to confirm himself after the excellent races held in the last GPs.

“I am very happy with this day of testing – said Niccolò Antonelli – I had a lot of fun riding and honestly it's been a while since I felt like this: I hope to have fun tomorrow too and I particularly want to thank the team who are giving me a great hand in this period in which I have made some mistakes. Tomorrow we will try to get even closer to the leaders: today the gaps were very limited, but this is probably due to the fact that on this track it is easy to get a good time if you manage to take advantage of a slipstream. The important thing, as always, is to be able to do it alone and for several laps: for this reason I believe that tomorrow the riders who have been the protagonists so far will emerge."

“The position in the ranking is not very good – added Enea Bastianini – but the gap to the fastest is only one second, so we can be satisfied with this first day. We are working well on the bike even if obviously we are not yet one hundred percent, so tomorrow as always we will give our best to improve and ensure that the set-up of the bike and my needs find the right meeting point; in particular today I was losing quite a bit of ground in T3, even if during these first two rounds the situation has already improved".
