Moto3 | GP Portimao Qualifying: Sasaki takes pole, the Italians fall behind
Fourth pole in Moto3 for the Japanese rider who preceded Rueda and Kelso
Moto3 GP Portugal Qualifying – Ayumu Sasaki will start from pole position in the Moto3 class Portuguese Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2023 MotoGP world championship.
The Team Intact GP rider (formerly Max Biaggi's team) took his Husqvarna to the top with a time of 1:46.798, also taking advantage of the wake of his teammate Collin Veijer.
In the front row with the Japanese rider we find the KTM (Team Red Bull Ajo) rookie Josè Antonio Rueda, 0.374s behind and Joel Kelso's PruestelGP CFMoto.
The second row will be opened by Daniel Holgado, who on the KTM of Team Tech 3 preceded Ivan Ortolà (KTM MTA) and David Alonso (GASGAS Aspar).
Xavier Artigas with the second CFMoto of PruestelGP is seventh, ahead of the KTM of Deniz Oncu's Team Tech 3 and the first Honda, that of Jaume Masia's Team Leopard.
Stefano Nepa (KTM MTA) and Riccardo Rossi (Honda SIC58 Squadra Corse) will start from the fourth row with the tenth and eleventh time (12th place for Rossi given the identical time set by his team-mate Kaito Toba, ed.), while Matteo Bertelle (Honda Snipers) will start from 19th place, rookie Filippo Farioli (KTM Tech 3) from 21st and Romano Fenati (Honda Snipers) from 25th.
