Moto3 Motegi Qualifying – Tatsuki Suzuki took pole position in his home Grand Prix at Motegi on his 25th birthday.

The Team Honda Leopard rider will therefore take the lead in the Japanese Grand Prix, 16th stage of the 2022 MotoGP championship, scheduled for Sunday at the Twin Ring in Motegi.

Under pouring rain and wet asphalt, Suzuki set the best lap with a time of 2:11.246, taking his first pole of the season (last at Mugello 2021, ed.), seventh in his career.

On the front row with the Japanese rider will be Scott Ogden on the Honda of Team VisionTrack and Sergio Garcia on GasGas of Team Aspar, both of whom passed through Q1.

Ayumu Sasaki will open the second row on a Husqvarna of the Max Racing Team, who preceded the Hondas of our Dennis Foggia (Leopard) and Andrea Migno (Snipers).

Riccardo Rossi with the Honda of Team SIC58 Squadra Corse is seventh ahead of the KTM Tech 3 of Deniz Oncu and the GasGas of Team Aspar of Izan Guevara.

Fourth row for Jaume Masia (KTM Red Bull Ajo), Carlos Tatay (CF Moto PruestelGP) and John McPhee (Husqvarna Max Racing Team).

Stefano Nepa (KTM MTA) and KTM riders Avintia, Elia Bartolini and Nicola Fabio Carraro did not pass the Q1 trap and will start from 25th, 26th and 29th position respectively.
