Moto3 GP Malaysia Sepang Race – Lorenzo Dalla Porta won the Malaysian Grand Prix in the Moto3 class, the eighteenth and penultimate race of the 2019 MotoGP championship held at the Sepang International Circuit.

The day opened with all the riders of all classes gathered at the finish line to remember with a minute's silence Afridza munandar, driver of the Asia Talent Cup, who died yesterday in Sepang during the race of the Asian series (Click here to find out more).

Returning to the race Dalla Porta beat Sergio Garcia on Honda and an amazing Jaume Masia (KTM), who started from the back of the grid due to a technical problem and recovered from thirtieth position to the podium.

Celestino Vietti (Sky Racing Team VR46) had an excellent race and, despite a KTM that wasn't fast on the straights, he was in contention for the victory until the last lap, then a small mistake meant he finished fifth.

In the early stages of the race, Rodrigo, who was leading the race, fell to the ground, a fall which also involved the innocent Tatuski Suzuki and Alonso Lopez. Also in points were Tony Arbolino, Niccolò Antonelli (started from the back and authored a beautiful comeback, ed.), Romano Fenati and Riccardo Rossi.

For Dalla Porta it is the third consecutive victory (Motegi, Phillip Island and Sepang), the fourth of the season (German GP before the hat-trick.)

Moto3 GP Malaysia Sepang Race Report Live Live

We are ready for the Moto3 class Malaysian Grand Prix, the eighteenth round of the 2019 MotoGP. Pole yesterday went to Marcos Ramirez, who preceded Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and John Mcphee (Honda Petronas). Jaume Masia will start from the back of the grid, having had a technical problem on the reconnaissance lap which was later resolved. The riders are on the grid, with 17 laps to go the traffic lights go out, the fastest at the start is Suzuki, ahead of Ramirez and Arenas.

Arenas attacks, taking the lead of the race, but a few corners later the SIC58 Squadra Corse driver regains the lead.

The first lap ends like this: Suzuki, Ramirez, Rodrigo, Arenas, Binder, McPhee, Migno, Lopez, Dalla Porta and Fenati. Arbolino is 14th.

Rodrigo attacks with a double overtaking goal into the lead. Meanwhile, Masia is already close to the points zone in last place, 16th.

The battle continues, Rodrigo still in the lead, followed by Suzuki and Arenas, with poleman Ramirez fourth ahead of McPhee, Dalla Porta, Binder, Lopez, Fenati, Arbolino and Migno.

Great battle in the first laps, but with 12 to go a twist; Rodrigo loses control of his Honda and Suzuki and Lopez who were following are unable to avoid him. Triple fall, fortunately the three are not hit by anyone, even if Lopez caught Suzuki's bike, "taking off" and then landing disastrously.

Another fall, this time involving our Stefano Nepa and Tom Booth-Amos, riders ok. Having reached the halfway point of the race, we find our Celestino Vietti in the lead, preceding the new world champion Dalla Porta, Arenas, Masia, McPhee, Arbolino, Garcia, Canet, Ogura, Ramirez, Migno, Toba and Fenati.

More falls, Binder on the ground and then Sasaki, Migno and Toba together, all the riders ok. Great battle between Dalla Porta, Vietti, Arenas, Garcia, an incredible Masia, who we remember started from the back of the grid, McPhee, Arbolino, Canet and Ramirez.

Five laps to go, Dalla Porta still leads ahead of Vietti and Arenas, with Garcia Ogura and Masia at the rear of the leaders. Two laps to go, Dalla Porta is still in the lead, it's always a great battle. The riders cross the finish line for the last time.

The last lap begins, Vietti attacks and takes the lead of the race, Dalla Porta responds, but Vietti, despite a small slip during braking, regains the lead. Dalla Porta doesn't give up, he is first again and extends after a contact between Vietti and Arenas. Last corner, Dalla Porta wins again, Garcia and an incredible Masia on the podium. Vietti finishes fifth behind Ogura.
