Moto2 Sepang, Free Practice 1: Rabat ahead of Espargarò
Alex de Angelis, seventh is the best of our team
Esteve Rabat set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the Moto2 class in Sepang. The Team Pons driver (who lapped in 2:08.053) is almost half a second ahead of team-mate Pol Espargarò, with the latter 20 points behind Scott Redding in the world rankings, only twelfth this morning.
Third time for the Suter of Swiss Thomas Luthi, who preceded the Japanese Team Italtrans Takaaki Nakagami and the Finnish Marc VDS Racing Team Mika Kallio. Sixth time for Aragon winner Nico Terol.
The Team Aspar rider is ahead of the San Marino Alex de Angelis, seventh and ahead of Julian Simon, the 2012 Moto3 world champion Sandro Cortese and the Frenchman of the Came Iodaracing Team Johann Zarco, who closes the Top Ten.
The other Italians Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini (with the other two Speed Ups of Team NGM Mobile) are in sixteenth and eighteenth position respectively.
