Esteve Rabat set the best time in Free Practice 1 of the Moto2 class at Mugello, the sixth round of the 2014 world championship. The Spanish centaur of the Marc VDS Racing Team stopped the clock at a time of 1:52.860, which beat him by just six thousandths allows him to beat the German Sandro Cortese, also riding a Kalex, but from Team Dynavolt Intact GP.

Third time for the Swiss Thomas Luthi, riding the Suter, fourth for the German Jonas Folger and sixth for the San Marino Alex de Angelis, riding the Suter of Team Tasca.
