Moto2 Motegi: Polyccio Espargarò “I will try to keep the championship open”
The Team Pons rider had to "surrender" to his compatriot Marquez
Pol Espargarò tried in every way to win the Moto2 class Japanese Grand Prix, but had to deal with an immense Marquez, who started almost last due to the first gear not being engaged, and made an incredible comeback. The Pons team driver has therefore lost another five points in the standings, with three races remaining until the end of the world championship. He has the microphone.
“At the beginning with the new tires I took some risks, I almost crashed. Afterwards I got back into the rhythm and managed to catch up with Tito Rabat and then started the battle with Marquez. I had a little less acceleration and in the final lap I did 1.51.0, but despite braking hard I wasn't able to overtake it. We will work to have more acceleration in Malaysia and try to keep the championship open. I will keep fighting as long as there is still hope, but this time the distance has increased and there is one less race. I got 10 podiums and this is proving to be a positive season, but we still need something to win more races.”
