On his home circuit Jules Cluzel, a Forward Racing driver with a Suter, was the fastest in the first test session at Le Mans. The French rider stopped the clock in 1'39.827, leaving Alex De Angelis, second on the RSM Team Scot Force GP89, 210 thousandths of a second behind, while Jerez winner Toni Elias was further behind in third place.

Among the first also Sergio Gadea, fourth with the Kalex Pons, followed by Fonsi Nieto, fifth with the Moriwaki of the G22 Holiday Gym, who precedes Yuki Takahashi with the Tech 3 and Julian Simon who moved with the Aspar team from RSV to Suter.

The first Italian is Andrea Iannone in tenth position, while Roberto Rolfo is 12th, Simone Corsi 14th and Mattia Pasini 17th who seems to have solved the problems of Jerez.

Further behind were Raffaele De Rosa, twentieth, Claudio Corti 26th, Alex Baldolini 29th, former MotoGP rider Niccolò Canepa only 35th.
