Mika Kallio obtained the pole position of the Spanish Grand Prix in the Moto2 class. The Marc VDS Racing Team rider achieved the best time with a time of 1:42.766, thus achieving his first pole of 2014.

Sandro Cortese (the fastest in FP3) and Luis Salom, both on Kalex, will start on the front row with him. In the second row we find two Swiss, Thomas Luthi and Dominique Aegerter (both on Suter) and the world championship leader Esteve “Tito” Rabat (Kalex).

The German Jonas Folger, the Spaniard Maverick Vinales and the German Marcel Schrotter will form the third row. The best of the Italians is Simone Corsi, eleventh with the Forward KLX. The Roman is therefore on the fourth row while his team-mate Mattia Pasini will start from the sixth.

Alex de Angelis follows him closely, riding the Suter of Team Tasca. The San Marino driver is ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri (Suter Team Gresini) while Franco Morbidelli finished qualifying with the 23rd time.
