Moto2 | Japanese GP FP1: Binder mocks Nagashima
Excellent Manzi on MV Agusta sixth, Marini also in the top ten
Moto2 GP Japan Motegi Free Practice 1 – Brad Binder wins the first free practice session of the Moto2 class Japanese Grand Prix, sixteenth stage of the 2019 MotoGP world championship.
The KTM Ajo team rider stopped the clock at 1:51.055, preceding Tetsuta Nagashima by 0.052s and world leader Alex Marquez (Marc VDS) by 0.288.
Fourth time for the rookie Jorge Maritn who, on the KTM of the Ajo team, precedes Remy Gardner and a surprising Stefano Manzi on the MV Agusta of the Forward team. Seventh time for Tom Luthi ahead of Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46) and Somkiat Chantra. Iker Lecuona completes the top ten.
Nicolò Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46) was outside the ten by just a few thousandths and finished 12th, ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri (FlexBox HP40), 13th, who crashed fortunately without consequences. After a positive first half of the session, Mattia Pasini (Tasca Racing) finished 16th ahead of Enea Bastianini (ItalTrans), 28th, and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Speed Up), 20th. Andrea Locatelli (Italtrans) finished in 23rd position, while Marco Bezzecchi (Tech3) was 28th with a fall, fortunately without consequences.
