MotoGP GP Austria Race – Francesco Bagnaia wins the Moto2 Class Austrian Grand Prix, eleventh stage of the 2018 MotoGP. Fifth victory of the season for the Turin rider.

Miguel Oliveira (KTM Ajo) starts very well from the front row and manages to take the lead straight away, a contact at the first corner between Quartararo and Bagnaia forces the two riders to widen, losing positions. Navarro took advantage of this and moved into second position ahead of the Turin driver.

'Pecco' once passed the Spaniard he launched himself in pursuit of the race leader who he caught up in the final laps. In the meantime, there is an open fight for third position between Marini, Marquez and Pasini, with the Sky team rider managing to get the better of the two only a few laps from the end.

With 5 laps to go the battle for the victory heats up, a series of overtaking and counter-overtaking revives a race that had been fairly flat up until then.

At the last corner Francesco Bagnaia passes Miguel Oliveira with a move similar to Dovizioso against Marquez 2017. Thanks to the success, the Team Sky VR46 rider takes the lead of the world championship again, +3 over the Portuguese

As with the victory, the fight for third place was only resolved under the checkered flag. Alex Marquez slips at the last corner, leaving the way open for Luca Marini, who takes the third step of the podium.

Fourth Mattia Pasini (ItalTrans) preceded Jorge Navarro (Gresini Racing) and Brad Binder (KTM Ajo).

Marcel Schrotter crosses the finish line in seventh place ahead of rookie Joan Mir (Marc VdS) and Fabio Quartararo (SpeedUp). Iker Lecuona completes the top ten.

The rookie Romano Fenati finished in eleventh position, ahead of Andrea Locatelli (ItalTrans), 13th, and Stefano Manzi (Forward) 14th and in the points.
