Moto2 | GP Malaysia Qualifying: Aldeguer on pole, Vietti is second
Pedro Acosta finished sixth, ahead of Tony Arbolino
Moto2 GP Malaysia Sepang Qualifying – Fermin Aldeguer obtained the pole position of the Malaysian Grand Prix, 18th stage of the Moto2 class, scheduled in Sepang.
The Team Speed Up rider achieved it with a time of 2.05.288, achieving his third consecutive pole, the fourth of his career in Moto2. The #54 will have next to it on the front row our Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing) just over half a second behind and Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 Team), 25 thousandths behind Vietti.
Aron Canet (Pons) finished fourth, but will most likely be penalized with a long-lap penalty for crashing under the yellow flag. The #40 will share the second row with Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing) and championship leader Pedro Acosta (Red Bull Ajo).
Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS) set the seventh fastest time after progressing from Q1 and is ahead of Jake Dixon (Aspar) and Somkiat Chantra (Team Asia). Joe Roberts (Italtrans) closes the Top Ten.
Eleventh time for Sam Lowes (Marc VDS) who preceded Sergio Garcia (Pons), Ai Ogura (Team Asia), Barry Baltus (Racing GP) and Alonso Lopez (SpeedUp).
Dennis Foggia (Italtrans) who had not passed Q1 will start from the 19th spot on the grid, while Mattia Casadei (Fantic Racing) finished 30th.
