Moto2 | Izan Guevara will miss the Portuguese and Argentina GPs
The 2022 Moto3 champion will be replaced by Jordi Torres
Moto2 Team Aspar – The 2023 season of the 2022 Moto3 class champion Izan Guevara is off to an uphill start. The Spanish rider, who moved to the Moto2 class this year, will in fact miss both the inaugural race of the 2023 MotoGP championship scheduled for Sunday in Portimao and the following one in Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina.
The rider underwent medical checks at the end of the Portimao pre-season test, which revealed findings consistent with chronic ulnar nerve compression syndrome and a triangular ligament injury.
His replacement for these two races will be Openbank Aspar Team driver Jordi Torres, who returns to the intermediate category with the Valencian team, with whom he raced in 54 races between 2011 and 2014.
The young Spanish rider will undergo surgery this week and will have a month's rest, which will prevent him from making his debut in the Moto2 category until at least the Grand Prix of the Americas.
