Moto2 | Australian GP Qualifying: Aldeguer on pole, followed by Canet and Lopez
Arbolino eighth is the best of the Italian drivers, 13th Celestino Vietti
Moto2 GP Australia Phillip Island Qualifying – Fermin Aldeguer, after dominating all three rounds of testing at Phillip Island, also won pole position for the Australian Grand Prix, the 16th stage of the Moto2 class.
The SpeedUp rider set the fastest lap with a time of 1:31.888, the only rider to break the "wall" of 32 minutes (third pole for him in the intermediate class of the MotoGP, ed.). In the front row with the #54 of Luca Boscoscuro's Team Aron Canet (Pons) and team-mate Alonso Lopez, 0.342s and 0.684s behind.
Fourth time and second row for Joe Roberts (Italtrans), who will have alongside him the championship leader Pedro Acosta (Red Bull Ajo) and Jake Dixon (Aspar).
Sergio Garcia (Pons) is seventh, ahead of our Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS), who will therefore start from the third row together with Darryn Binder (Intact GP).
Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing) finished 1th after passing through Q13, while Dennis Foggia (Italtrans) 1st, Alberto Surra (Forward) 21th and Mattia Casadei (Fantic Racing) 27th did not pass Q28.
